Lansing Rotary Celebrating Success: Elderly Instruments Named America’s Top Small Business

Ben Rathbun, CEO of Rathbun Insurance was proud of another week as Chair of the Month at the Rotary Club of Lansing. On Friday, March 8, the meeting was graced by a special presentation from, Lillian Werbin. Lillian Werbin is CEO and Co-Owner of Elderly Instruments, the fretted and stringed musical instrument retailer and mecca in Lansing, Michigan.

Lillian shared the thrilling news of Elderly Instruments winning America’s Top Small Business at the State of American Business event hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. It was a moment of immense pride for all of us, seeing a local Lansing gem being recognized on a national stage for its outstanding contributions to the music industry.

Elderly Instruments holds a special place in our hearts, not only because of its remarkable success but also because of its rich history and deep connection to our community. As many of you know, Lillian's father, Stan Werbin, laid the foundation of this esteemed institution over 50 years ago. And now, under Lillian's dynamic leadership as co-owner and CEO, Elderly Instruments continues to thrive and innovate, setting new standards of excellence in the industry.

But the celebrations didn't stop there. As a special treat, we were treated to a delightful performance by a string band comprised entirely of former

Elderly employees, expertly convened by Lansing Community College President Steve Robinson, who himself worked at Elderly in the 90s. It was a nostalgic and heartwarming moment, showcasing the enduring bonds and camaraderie fostered at Elderly Instruments over the years.

Elderly Instruments' journey to success is a testament to the power of passion, dedication, and community spirit. It's a story that resonates deeply with all of us at Rathbun and within the Rotary Club of Lansing. We take immense pride in supporting and celebrating the achievements of local businesses like Elderly Instruments, whose contributions not only enrich our economy but also strengthen the fabric of our community.

As we applaud Elderly Instruments for this well-deserved honor, let us also take a moment to reflect on the invaluable role that small businesses play in driving innovation, creating jobs, and fostering a sense of belonging within our community. Together, let's continue to support and uplift our local businesses, ensuring that they continue to thrive and inspire future generations.
